General UAS Description

R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS is specifically designed for heavy lift, long endurance surveillance and combat operations. R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS operates at Extended Visual Line Of Sight (EVLOS) ranges of up to 150 km. R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS is capable of autonomously patrolling designated areas, identifying and tracking targets at EVLOS distances, and loitering around designated target areas while broadcasting encrypted Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA) data to authorized users, as well as delivering one lack Scorpion torpedo, up to six 80 mm specialized gravity bombs or four 81/82 mm mortar bombs from up to 1,000 m AGL altitude with down to 5 m CEP.

R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS for the operations above is supplied with the following components:

  1. Two R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS with optional payloads specified in the Payloads section of this document.
  2. One Ground Control Station specified in the Ground Control Station section of this document.
  3. Other components included in the scope of delivery as specified in C2/Transport Container, Documentation, and Maintenance sections of this document.
  4. Training for operators and technicians is specified in the Training section of this document.

Following terms and definitions are used in this document as referenced in Table 1 below:

Definition Meaning Reference
Range The total travel distance the UAS can fly between takeoff and landing, as limited by fuel tank capacity Table 2 Maximum total range 1,200 km
Telemetry Range The maximum radial distance that the GCS can communicate with the UAS, providing full control, and information from payload Table 2 EVLOS communications range 150 km
Endurance The maximum length of time UAS can be airborne in cruising speed Table 2 Maximum endurance 10 hrs
Rain Conditions 1. Light Rain is up to 2.5 mm of rain per hour
2. Moderate Rain is between 2.5–10 mm of rain per hour
3. Heavy Rain is between 10–50 mm of rain per hour
Table 2 Maximum operational amount of rainfall 4 mm/hr

Airframe

R12 Rexidon is a hybrid VTOL UAS with gasoline cruise and electric VTOL propulsion, has 150 kg MTOW, and up to 10 hrs endurance at a cruise speed of 120 km/h. It is designed specifically to operate from an unprepared onshore location over open sea, land, or coastal areas.

R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS is designed as a monocoque high-wing airframe with a two-stroke Electronic Fuel Injection gasoline oil mix pusher cruise motor and propeller, and eight permanently mounted VTOL electric motors and propellers. This design has a significant advantage in flight safety, as VTOL propulsion is used not only for takeoff, landing, and hover, but also for in-flight emergency recovery in place of an emergency parachute. The amount of additional drag introduced by the VTOL system is only 6.8% and the total available payload weight is not affected by it due to higher wing loading allowed by the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities.

Figure 1. R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS

R12 Rexidon VTOL UAS airframe is manufactured entirely from carbon fiber composite with Kevlar reinforcement to increase the strength of critical components. The equipment bay cover is made from radio-transparent reinforced fiberglass to allow for the internal location of communication antennas to further improve flight efficiency.

R12 Rexidon UAV is intended to operate from a C2 Transport Container mounted on a suitable vehicle and is not designed for daily field assembly and disassembly. A specialized C2/Transport Container is used to transport two R12 Rexidon aircraft with outer wing sections detached to the field.

R12 Rexidon UAV has a built-in LIDAR altimeter and a visual precision landing capability to allow takeoff and landing within limited clearance areas of 9 m diameter or more even in GNSS-denied environments.

The airframe is covered by a layer of IR-reflective coating that reduces the heat transfer from solar radiation by 88% and can be supplied in gray or white color and self-adhesive vinyl livery designed by the customer.

The airframe is equipped with anti-collision lights as defined in Regulation 2019/947. An optional 15-degree beam width LED spotlight can be installed on the underside of the aircraft for landing zone and operations area illumination.
